Our dedication to the practice of pharmacy goes beyond graduating compassionate and skilled doctors of pharmacy.
We’re committed to giving pharmacists more opportunities to hone and specialize their skills and to continually improving pharmacy education and educators. Our post-doctoral programs, with both the clinical and research focus, speak to those goals.
Pharmacy residency is recommended for all pharmacy graduates, but there are one-third the number of residency spots as there are graduates. To help bring specially trained clinical pharmacists to the NY area, TCOP sponsors PGY-2 hospital residencies in critical care, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine and co-sponsors second year residencies in ambulatory care and internal medicine. The PGY-2 residency program looks to increases the resident’s depth of knowledge, skills, attitudes, abilities, and expertise in medication therapy management and clinical leadership in these areas of focus.
The TCOP academic fellowship and teaching certificate is for pharmacists interested in pursuing academia. The fellowship program is separate from the residency program, while students pursuing a teaching certificate are generally a PGY-1 resident at a TCOP affiliated hospital or practice site.
