Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic disorder of the blood. It is estimated that Sickle Cell Disease affects 90,000 to 100,000 Americans. 1 out of every 500 African-American babies are born with Sickle Cell Disease.

The main purpose of this walk is to raise awareness, educate, provide better health care, and offer social services for those affected by Sickle Cell Disease, thalassemia, and those with the trait.  This event will give Touro students a unique opportunity to serve a worthy cause that will eliminate disparities in health care for Sickle Cell Disease and enhance the quality of life of those affected.
