Every year, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) receives several hundred thousand reports of suspected device-associated malfunction and serious injuries. Sifting through and ensuring that manufacturers are compliant with the regulations is the task of Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP) P3 Jennifer Tsan (Class of 2019). Tsan was selected as a Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training Program (JrCOSTEP) of the U.S Public Health Service (USPHS) with the FDA in Silver Spring, Maryland. Stationed at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), Tsan was one of only 22 pharmacy students that were selected for the program.

Last week, over 200 P1 through P4 students and faculty of Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP) merrily celebrated the end of their academic year at a semiformal held at Colbeh Restaurant in Manhattan. Besides a five-course Mediterranean-style buffet dinner (including Persian gondi, dolmeh, three types of kebab, three types of rice, and more), students enjoyed a sushi bar, open drinks bar, and an elaborate cake for the graduating class of 2015. Suits and dresses replaced the usual white coats as student pharmacists and faculty ate, drank, and danced the night away!

TCOP’s class of 2021 began their first semester during the second week of August. During the week-long orientation, the new crop of future pharmacists learned what to expect as first-year pharmacy students. The orientation culminated in a block party on 124th Street complete with karaoke, music and delicious food. In between karaoke sets and games of giant Jenga, students spoke about why they wanted to become pharmacists.
