Held at the Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem, the white coat ceremony marks the beginning of the journey for Touro College of Pharmacy students. 103 students were welcomed as “P1” students (first year pharmacy students) and received their white coats. Together they took the Pledge of Professionalism led by Dean Dutta, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, confirming their commitment to becoming professional practitioners of pharmacy. Approximately sixty pharmacy preceptors arrived at the Touro College of Pharmacy this past week for an Evening of Appreciation and Preceptor Development Workshop. Now completing a pharmacy residency in ambulatory care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Elrod’s pharmacy school days included traveling to the slums of India to counsel residents on medication use; educating children in Harlem about healthy eating; and spreading the word to high school students about the dangers of popping pills.
