Doctor of Pharmacy
The PharmD program adopts a unique approach—with more experiential education than most other colleges of pharmacy. After four years, you’ll be fully prepared to start your career in pharmacy.
Our four-year curriculum emphasizes guided, individual learning through rigorous coursework and extensive practice experience. Experienced and engaged professors will mentor and advise you every step of the way, ensuring that by the time you graduate, you are as prepared as possible to embark on the next phase of your professional journey.
What You’ll Learn
Students spend the beginning of their pharmacy school career, the first 2.5 years, in the classroom, learning the ins and outs of pharmaceutical science, patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, and medication management. With a firm knowledge of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science, you'll head out to the pharmacy for the next 1.5 years, to complete practice experiences at our affiliate sites, learning first-hand about clinical practice, ambulatory care, general medicine, and institutional and community pharmacy practice.
Upon completing the program, students are prepared to take all three parts of the New York State pharmacist licensing exam. While many of our graduates become pharmacists in the community or hospital setting, others opt to pursue careers in academia, pharmaceutical industry or clinical research.
Whatever your ambitions, the PharmD program will help you develop the broad knowledge, practical skills, and professional network to effectively serve patients, families, and communities.
