Asmar Alyousef

Asma Alyousef, P2

Admissions Student Ambassador

My name is Asma Alyousef, I am 28 years old. I used to live in New York, then I moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey. I graduated from Bergen Community College with an associate's degree with a major of general math and science. I am a mom of two kids, 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. I chose to be a pharmacist because I believe that a pharmacy career is a crucial part and a very important continuity of medical care. The pharmacist is another safeguard layer before the medications reach patients. The pharmacist discusses the importance of taking the medications, side effects, dosage, and frequency, as well as answering different questions the patients may have, also, reminding the patient about upcoming refills. All these help the patients stay healthy, and that is my goal. You can reach out to me.

Rena Berger

Irene (Rena) Berger, P2

Admissions Student Ambassador

My name is Irene Berger, I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Last Spring, I graduated from Brooklyn College with a major in business for health professions and a minor in chemistry. I have wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy since high school. My decision was confirmed when I spent the summer of my sophomore year in college volunteering in the pharmacy department within a hospital abroad. I was amazed to see how influential pharmacists were within the healthcare system. The experience motivated me to work towards my goal of becoming a clinical pharmacist. The main reasons I chose to attend Touro College of Pharmacy is the endless opportunities offered to the students here and the sense of belonging that I received from the students and faculty members of TCOP since the day of my interview. Aside from being a student here at TCOP I work as a tutor for high school students. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my friends and painting in my spare time. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Michelle Kaner, P3

Admissions Student Ambassador

My name is Michelle Kaner and I am a second-year pharmacy student at TCOP. I have a bachelor's in biology from LIU and have an enormous passion for fitness and nutrition integrating with pharmacy. Pharmacists see their patients more than any other medical provider and have an enormous amount of impact on their patients and healthcare overall. I believe in humanizing the person behind the counter and forming meaningful relationships between patient and provider. I always knew I belonged in pharmacy but until I started here I didn’t know how vast my options were. Whether it is residency, research, industry or academia…I feel lucky to have the opportunity to learn from the profession’s leaders and find my own niche. Like many students, I have dealt with anxiety pretty much my entire adult life. The ability to prioritize my studies was not a skill I learned overnight but has been crucial to my success here and with the management of my anxiety. What makes us human is our ability to learn from our mistakes, and I have made many. However, Touro allows me to bounce back and better each step of the way. It is okay to not be perfect, and I hope that message transcends into helping me flourish even further. Please feel free to reach out to me.

Hi! My name is Tzivia and I'm currently a first year student here at Touro. I'm originally from Maryland, but I live in NYC now. Being that I'm a P1, I am super new here at Touro. I remember being in your shoes like it was yesterday. If there's a single piece of advice that I wish I had during the admissions process it's to just take a deep breath and relax. I know it sounds simple and maybe even obvious, but it's just so easy to get caught up in the moment. If you have any questions about Touro, pharmacy in general, or even just want to chat, shoot me an email! Congrats on making it this far and good luck! Feel free to reach out to me!

Ariana Miranda

Ariana Miranda, P3

Admissions Student Ambassador

Hello everyone! My name is Ariana Miranda and I come from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I will be honest, it took me a little while to adapt to the speed of the city, but now I am enjoying every second of being here! The location of Touro is incredible. Harlem is rich in cultures, food, music, and more, however there is still many health disparities among the community, which I believe is what makes our school’s location so special. We have constantly the opportunity to reach out to the community and help hands-on to eliminate these disparities. I am currently president of Pharmacists of the State of New York (PSSNY) and historian of College of Psychiatric and Neurologist Pharmacists (CPNP). No, this doesn’t mean that classes are easy, it means that we have to work harder on our time-management skills. My commute is smooth since I live about 25 minutes from school, so usually during exams you will see me either very early in the morning or late- night in a study room to avoid any distractions. Otherwise, I study at home most of the time as I like to be around to walk my 1.5-year-old pup. That is a little bit about myself, but if you have any questions at all about our school, our community, student life, transportation, food, anything, please do not hesitate in contacting me!

I am a second-year student pharmacist at the Touro College of Pharmacy, NY. I was born and raised in Mumbai, India, completed my 'Bachelor of Pharmacy' degree from Mumbai University and a Master's in ‘Industrial Pharmacy’ from Long Island University in 2018. My future goal is to pursue a residency in critical care after the completion of my PharmD. I strongly believe in life-long learning & aspire to be a pharmacy leader, entrepreneur and a strong advocate of the profession to advance patient-centered collaborative care. I have already started working on developing the necessary skills via my participation in co-curricular activities held by various organizations. I work with the College administration and the faculty to ensure the student pharmacist voice is heard in decisions as a student member of the Curriculum Committee at the TCOP. I haven’t let my service and advocacy affect my academic performance. I pride myself on being current on issues facing our profession and being actively involved in developing solutions for it. TCOP has given me everything I was looking for to groom myself into a successful pharmacist! I have enjoyed every minute at Touro and will continue to do so. All the incoming students I welcome you with immense joy to a place where teachers will be your friends, your friends will be your philosophers and your mentors will be your guides! Reach out to me!
