D.O. and Pharmacy Students Volunteer at Harlem Healthy Soul Festival

Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM)-Harlem and Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP) students perform blood-pressure screenings and medication reviews for Harlem residents during the Harlem Healthy Soul Festival.

In just four hours, TCOP and TouroCOM students screened and counseled over 120 patients. 

Dr. Tipsuda Bahri, chair of the Basic Biomedical Sciences at TouroCOM-Harlem, supervised the D.O. students, while Dr. Rebecca Cope, PharmD, supervised the pharmacy students. Kirolous Makarious, P2 and President of Pharmacists for Public Health (PPH), led the recruitment of pharmacy student volunteers.

The pharmacy and D.O. students worked in pairs, assisting each other through every consultation. In just four hours, they were able to screen and counsel over 120 patients.
