What time do Graduates need to be at the Alfred Lerner Hall?
The Graduates should arrive at the Alfred Lerner Hall at 11 a.m.
What time does the Graduation Ceremony start?
The ceremony begins promptly at 3 p.m.
How long does the Commencement Ceremony last?
The ceremony is approximately 2 hours in duration.
When is Commencement practice? Am I required to attend?
Commencement practice will be held at 11 a.m. on the day of the ceremony (5/25/16) and is mandatory.
What time does my family and guests need to arrive?
The doors will open at 2:00 p.m. The seating for the ticketed guests will be at their choosing and on a “first come first served” basis.
Can I videotape the Ceremony?
No, due to fire safety policies we cannot permit individuals standing in the aisles trying to get a clear shot. The college hires a videographer(s) for commencement, and graduates will receive a free copy.
Will there be a place where graduates can store valuables during the ceremony?
Yes, in the secured “coat room” area located outside of Roone Arledge Auditorium. We do encourage graduates to keep their personal items (e.g. handbags, phones, etc.) or give to a family member. Neither Touro nor Columbia can be responsible for any personal items.
Do children need tickets to attend the ceremony?
Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. Due to spacing, strollers can be stored in the coat room.
How many tickets can I get for commencement?
You are allotted 7 guest tickets per graduate for the commencement ceremony; they will be distributed during Senior Day, Monday, May 16th 2016. Graduates will not need tickets.
When and where can I pick up my tickets?
Tickets for both the banquet and the ceremony will be given out on Senior Day (May 16, 2016). You must be present to sign for your tickets or email Ms. Mary Clarke prior to the pickup date with the name of the person you are authorizing to pick up your tickets and sign for them.
What is Senior Day?
Senior Day is May 16th, 2016. On this day, you will be able to pick up your commencement & banquet tickets, student regalia and take your graduation portrait photo. Please be advised, you will be required to sign up for designated time slot for taking the senior portrait, Ms. Clarke will provide more details in March 2016.
Where do I get my Tam and Gown?
Oak Hall is the supplier for student regalia. The last day to order regalia is March 15, 2016.
How much is the Tam and Gown?
The cost of the Tam and Gown is $60.55.
After the ceremony am I considered a graduate?
No, according to Touro College policy you are considered to be in “Candidate for Graduation” status until the institution graduation date of June 1.
Will there be Graduate photos?
Senior portraits will be taken on Senior Day (5/16/16). Students will be required to sign up for designated time slot. More details will be provided in March 2016.
Do I have to apply for graduation?
YES!!! Upon your completion of the Graduate Application Form, it will be sent to Ms. Clarke. Once the graduate completes their portion of the form, it is forward to the Office of the Registrar. There is no charge for processing this form. Please note: You will be required to complete an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid prior to commencement. Noncompliance will result in a delay of receiving your diploma.
Will there be a commencement banquet?
Yes, the commencement banquet will be held at the Alhambra Ballroom (2116 Adam Clayton Powell Junior Boulevard, New York, NY 10027; between 125th & 126th Sts.) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, by invitation only.
How many people can come to the commencement banquet?
Graduates do not need a ticket for the commencement banquet and will receive 2 guest tickets.
