Professional Learning: Pharmacy Micro-Credentials
Our micro-credentials are a great opportunity to expand your pharmacy knowledge and skills.
A micro-credential is an award consisting of more than a single badge (representing more than a single course or learning experience), but less than a full certificate or degree. Within the Canvas Credentials environment used by Touro University, it is an award earned by learners who have successfully completed or stacked the right sequence of badges in a particular pathway.
The Touro College of Pharmacy is interested in creating partnerships with external organizations and companies to offer professional learning in the form of micro-credentials. For example, in a recent partnership with a major pharmaceutical company, the Touro College of Pharmacy offered two non-credit micro-credentials to that company’s employees.
Pharmaceutical Product Labeling Micro-Credential (non-credit)
Pharmaceutical product labeling is the culmination of all the clinical trials and drug development work for a product. Pharmaceutical companies create Core Data Sheets to summarize this information and communicate how to safely and effectively use a product. This information is used as the basis for creating product labels intended for health care providers and patients. Product labels available in individual countries are negotiated documents whereby the pharmaceutical company, as well as the health authority in that country, discuss and agree on the final content. Core Data Sheets and product labels are living documents and are continuously updated as new information becomes available throughout the lifecycle of the product.
Individual badges included:
- Introduction to Labeling Non-Credit Badge
- Core Data Sheets Non-Credit Badge
- US, EU and Rest of World Pharmaceutical Labels Non-Credit Badge
- Labeling Intended for Patients Non-Credit Badge
- Maintaining Pharmaceutical Labels Non-Credit Badge
Advanced Pharmaceutical Labeling Topics Micro-Credential (non-credit)
End to end pharmaceutical labeling encompasses much more than just the company position documents and local prescribing information. Considerations also include printed labeling, carton and container labeling, specialized types of products such as generics and biosimilars, the many stakeholders that use the label throughout a pharmaceutical company, organizational and process designs and considerations, and the exciting possibilities and direction where labeling is headed.
Individual badges included:
- Artwork, mock-up and Packaging for Pharmaceutical Product Labeling Non-Credit Badge
- Pharmaceutical Labels for Generics and Biosimilars Non-Credit Badge
