Center of Excellence for Pharmacy Education and Pharmacist Care Services
Our Center of Excellence (COE) is an exciting initiative with a goal of increasing the number of underrepresented minority (URM) pharmacy students, graduates, and faculty trained to practice in a culturally competent manner and help improve healthcare outcomes especially in medically underserved areas.
COE programs to achieve this goal:
Scholar Awards for Student Pharmacists
To help increase the number of underrepresented minority (URM) pharmacy students, trained to practice in a culturally competent manner and, and committed to improving healthcare outcomes in medically underserved areas, we provide financial awards and personal stipends.
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Disparities Research and Outcomes
We’re training pharmacists to reduce health disparities through pharmacist-provided, community-based interventions in the United States.
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Disparities Research and Outcomes
Health Disparities Outcomes Research Support Program
Differences in social and built environments, socioeconomic and living conditions, health-risk behaviors such as tobacco use, obesity, lack of access to healthy foods, and access to and use of quality health care services are important social determinants contributing to persistent health disparities between population groups and geographic areas. We have launched our Research Support Program to foster research by our faculty, fellows, and students on these conditions and to identify successful interventions to address health disparities to achieve improvements.
Faculty Speaker Series & Alumni Talks
Along with some other events, we host a faculty speaker once a semester (fall & spring), and an alumni guest speaker each semester (fall & spring). The Faculty Speaker Series brings eminent pharmacists and pharmacy education leaders to campus for them to share their life experiences, inspiration, and both professional and personal insights.
The Alumni Talks bring alumni back to campus to inspire and motivate our students. The talks are designed to facilitate interactions with the goal of learning how to optimally navigate the challenges of developing a successful career and contributing to the community as a practitioner.
Pharmacy Summer Camp for College Students
We host a multi-day camp each year for first- and second-year college students who might consider a career in pharmacy and would like to learn more about the richly rewarding profession of pharmacy.
Past Programs:
2024 Pharmacy Summer Camp for College Students schedule.
2023 Pharmacy Summer Camp for College Students schedule.
Upcoming Program:
Rxplore Summer Academy 2025
Pharmacy Winter Camp for High School Students
Our Winter Camp for High School Students is designed to expose juniors and seniors, interested in healthcare careers to the profession of pharmacy.
Through a dynamic and approachable two-hour program held at our campus in Times Square, we introduce participants to our faculty, alumni, and admission team to learn about applying, course instruction, and professional opportunities. They also hear directly from our TCOP students about why they chose pharmacy as a career. We provide a fun, hands-on lab and the participants get to tour our state-of-the art facilities and interact further with our TCOP student ambassadors.
