Dr. Assaker was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her passion and excitement for pharmacy began during her years as an undergraduate student when she compounded impure aspirin in her chemistry lab class. Since then, she interned at a sterile compounding facility and worked in multiple, diverse pharmacy settings as a pharmacist. She has experience in the community pharmacy setting, sterile compounding, working with specialty medications (including chemotherapy), medication therapy management, mail-order and long-term care pharmacy. Dr. Assaker’s passion for academic pharmacy stemmed from the numerous opportunities she took in counseling, educating, and training others throughout her pharmacy career. She is excited to start as the academic pharmacy fellow for the 2023-2024 year and hopes to become a professor.
