Dr. Damanakis started his career as a pharmacy technician in community pharmacy, which inspired him to become a pharmacist. While in school, he became interested in drug information. As a hospital pharmacist at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Damanakis provided pharmaceutical services to Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Labor and Delivery (L&D), and the Chemical Dependence Unit (CDU) services. At TCOP, Dr. Damanakis serves as a drug information pharmacist, provides comprehensive responses to inquiries, precepts students, and translates complex medical data into simpler concepts.

Research
Dr. Damanakis’ research interests include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on the practice of pharmacy. Additional fields of interest include oncology and gene replacement therapy in rare diseases.
