Sharupa Azmal, PharmD

Dr. Sharupa Azmal is a first-generation Bengali American, born and raised in New York City. During pharmacy school, she engaged in several research projects, including the evaluation of access to quality care in patients diagnosed with hypertension and type II diabetes in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and the identification of key barriers preventing patients from sharing their continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data as part of the Eliminating Barriers Initiative at Northwell Health. Additionally, as a former ORISE Fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, she assessed how different intramuscular injection sites affect the pharmacokinetics of monoclonal antibodies. These experiences have shaped her perception of the impact pharmacists can have on diverse patient populations and of how research can be used to implement effective interventions for the betterment of our communities.
