Ruginn grew up in Orlando, Florida, and it was there where his curiosity in research began. During his undergraduate studies, he volunteered in a polymeric nanomaterials lab, where he explored polymer nanoparticles as a delivery platform for treating pancreatic cancer. Later he joined St. John’s University as a research assistant, where he focused on lipid nanoparticle formulations for inhalation therapies targeting lung diseases.
