American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists

Our mission is to advance the reach and practice of psychiatric pharmacy and serve as the voice of the specialty. Our vision is to see a world where all individuals living with mental illness receive safe, appropriate, and effective treatment.

The American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists, formerly known as College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP), is the only professional society representing the interests of neuropsychiatric pharmacists in the U.S. The new name is the result of a studied and measured process and provides a clarity of purpose that will enhance our substantially increased advocacy efforts, streamline our planning strategies, and allow us to proceed with passion, focus, and authenticity into the next 25 years.

American College of Clinical Pharmacy - Student College of Clinical Pharmacy

SCCP is the student affiliate of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), a professional and scientific society that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources enabling clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice, research, and education. ACCP is the professional home for clinical pharmacy practitioners, scientists, educators, administrators, students, residents, and fellows from more than 60 countries. Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) member benefits include career guidance, CV review, the opportunity to attend national meetings, participation in email discussion groups and a subscription to ACCP’s official journal, Pharmacotherapy, as well as opportunities to network with clinical pharmacists both locally and across the country.

Academy of Managed Care Pharmacists/AMCP

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is the nation’s leading professional association dedicated to increasing patient access to affordable medicines, improving health outcomes and ensuring the wise use of health care dollars. The Academy’s 8,000 pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other practitioners manage medication therapies for the 270 million Americans served by health plans, pharmacy benefit management firms, emerging care models and government. AMCP serves its members in many ways, including through national conferences, online learning programs, research in peer-reviewed literature and advocacy. Each is designed to advance professional knowledge, improving the design and delivery of pharmacy benefits, and ultimately, patient satisfaction and health outcomes.

American Pharmacist Association/APhA

APhA, founded in 1852, was the first national professional society of pharmacists. It remains the largest association of pharmacists in the U.S., with more than 60,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession. Through information, education, and advocacy, APhA empowers its members to improve medication use and advance patient care by providing timely and accurate information; raising of the role of pharmacists as essential in patient care; providing state-of-the-art resources to enhance members' continuing professional development; educating and influencing legislators, policymakers, regulators, and the public; and creating unique opportunities for members to connect and share with their peers across practice settings.

American Society of Consultant Pharmacists/ASCP

ASCP's mission is to promote healthy aging through the appropriate use of medications. For millions of senior citizens and individuals with chronic illnesses, consultant and senior care pharmacists play a vital role in ensuring optimal drug therapy.

The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) is the only international professional society devoted to optimal medication management and improved health outcomes for all older persons. Founded in 1969, ASCP represents over 9,000 pharmacy professionals, including students, serving the unique medication needs of the senior population in a wide range of professional settings.

American Society of Health-System Pharmacists - Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy/ASHSP-SSHP

The ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) is the only national organization for hospital and health-system pharmacists, representing 35,000 member pharmacists who practice in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home care, and many other health-system settings. SSHP (Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy) offers students opportunities to develop professionally and explore the world of health-system pharmacy careers. Through ASHP-SSHP students have the opportunity to get involved with advocacy in patient care (including ASHP policymaking), professional development projects, clinical skills competitions and national meetings.

Industry Pharmacy Organization/IPhO

IPhO is exclusively dedicated to:

  • Raising awareness among employers and industry leaders about the roles industry pharmacists can play in different fields such as medical and regulatory affairs, clinical development, and global marketing.
  • Supplying targeted resources and coaching to enhance members' continuing education and professional development.
  • Creating opportunities for members to network and exchange ideas with industry pharmacist peers.
  • Providing access to attractive and relevant employment opportunities available in the industry.
  • Distributing timely and relevant information that is vital to members.

The Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO) is exclusively dedicated to advancing the careers of industry pharmacists, by providing timely and relevant information that is vital to members; raising awareness among employers and industry executives about the role that industry pharmacists can play in drug development and appropriate medication use; providing resources to enhance members' continuing education and professional development; creating opportunities for members to network and exchange ideas; and providing access to employment opportunities. IPhO National Student Member benefits include regional and national leadership opportunities; access to confidential coaching services; internships and fellowships; and networking opportunities.

Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity

Kappa Psi, founded in 1879, is the world’s oldest and largest professional pharmacy fraternity, with 191 chapters and more than 93,000 members across the U.S., Canada and the Bahamas. Kappa Psi’s objectives include conducting a professional fraternal organization for the mutual benefit of its members; developing industry, sobriety, and fellowship; fostering high ideals, scholarship, and pharmaceutical research; supporting and participating in projects which will advance the profession; inspiring in its members a deep and lasting pride in their Fraternity and in the profession; and serving members and the profession.

National Hispanic Pharmacists Association

The mission of NHPA is to empower Hispanic pharmacists and other members to improve the health of Hispanic populations in collaboration with public and private sector partners. The vision of NHPA is to be the leading pharmacy organization for improving the health of Hispanic populations in the United States

NHPA serves as a resource to federal government on how to improve pharmacy policies and programs for the Latino community. NHPA has a membership for pharmacists and others to improve pharmacy services to Latinos. NHPA supports educational programs and pharmacy school chapters.

Pharmacists Society of the State of New York/PSSNY

The Society’s purpose is “to unite the pharmacists of the State for mutual assistance, encouragement, and improvement in order to maintain the standard of pharmacy practice at a high professional and ethical level.” PSSNY is active in advocating for New York state legislation addressing the concerns of the pharmacy profession. Each year PSSNY hosts a lobby day designed to educate pharmacy students on the legislative process and continue lobbying efforts for the Society’s legislative agenda. The Student Pharmacist Society of the State of New York (SPSSNY) is a platform for pharmacy students to go beyond the classroom and become actively involved in current legislative issues like decreasing reimbursements, increasing fees and unregulated “claw-backs” alongside current pharmacists to actively advocate for and improve their profession.

Phi Lambda Sigma

The purpose of Phi Lambda Sigma, the national Pharmacy Leadership Society, is to promote the development of leadership qualities among pharmacy students. By peer recognition, the Society encourages participation in all pharmacy activities. Members are selected by peer recognition, a process which instills and enhances self-confidence, encourages the less active student to a more active role and promotes greater effort toward the advancement of pharmacy.

Rho Chi Honor Society

The Rho Chi Society, the national academic honor society in pharmacy, serves as a means for the advancement of the profession. Membership distinguishes students by their outstanding academic and professional achievements. The vision of the Society is to instill in its members the desire to pursue intellectual excellence and critical inquiry to advance the pharmacy profession. The Society promotes high standards of conduct and character and seeks recognition of its members as lifelong intellectual leaders in pharmacy. Members are eligible for awards, scholarships and graduate fellowships, and may attend the Rho Chi Society national meeting, held annually in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

Student National Pharmaceutical Association-SNPhA

The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) was founded in 1972 as the student affiliate of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA). SNPhA is an education and service association of pharmacy students and high school affiliate members concerned about pharmacy, health care issues, and the need for representation of all people in pharmacy and other health professions. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement programs geared toward improving the health, social, and educational environment of the community, and to provide professional development opportunities for its members. The National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA) is a nationwide professional organization of pharmacists focused on the needs of all people in the community and dedicated to representing the views and ideals of all pharmacists on critical issues affecting health care and pharmacy, as well as advancing the standards of pharmaceutical care among all practitioners.
